  • WOMEN AS WITNESS: DOCUMENTING SILENCE, RESISTANCE AND SURVIVAL

Women As Witness is a group exhibition co-curated by Qiana Mestrich and Zoraida Lopez, which unveils how women document resilience, resistance, and survival through photography. The guiding premise of Women as Witness is that female photographers have the power to insert memories that are all too often overlooked. Through using this power, the female photographer both questions dominant culture and asserts her place in it.

The exhibition was on view from Saturday, September 12, 2015 to Saturday, October 10, 2015 at TI Art Studios in Brooklyn. There was an opening reception and panel discussion moderated by Brooklyn Rail writer Jessica Holmes.

Featured Artists: Abbey Hepner, Cristina Santana, Doris Neidl, Fabiola Jean-Louis, Farzana Hossen, Heba Khalifa, Kathryn Shinko, Lola Flash, Maya Mackrandilal, Muriel Hasbun, Neo Ntsoma, Nona Faustine, Shervone Neckles, Sophia Dawson, Susanne Slavick, and Tallulah Schwartz.

The curators intended to make this exhibition travel to national and international venues, stay tuned for more info.
